    (b) Sagittal T2-weighted image. A component (arrow) with low signal intensity on T1-weighted images and very low signal intensity on T2-weighted sequences was considered suggestive for the presence of fibrous tissue.

     

    (c) Transverse T2-weighted image. A small amount of fluid in the Douglas space (long arrow) was also detected, representing a normal finding on histology.

     

    (d) Transverse fat-suppressed T1-weighted image after the i.v. administration of gadolinium chelate compounds shows weak and delayed contrast enhancement of the soft-tissue element (arrow).

    (a) Transverse diffusion-weighted (DW) echo planar image (b = 800 s/mm2). Cystic parts appeared hyperintense on both DW images and ADC maps. The fibrous element (arrow) was mainly hypointense on DW images.

    (a) Serous cystic tumour lined by cuboidal cells, with mild nuclear atypia, which are mostly arranged in a single layer, but focally form short papillary structures (H-E x 400).
