T1 TSE ax. On T1-weighted axial images, the mass exhibited a moderately hyperintense signal compared with the laterally adjacent medial pterygoid muscle, and was surrounded by a hypointense capsule. Anterior to the internal carotid artery, it contacted the deep parotid lobe. Also note the intact pharyngeal mucosa at the level of the tonsils.
