  • Figure 1
    Ultrasonographic images of pylorus

    Hypertrophied and thickened musculature of pyloric canal is noted (red arrow).

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Ultrasound; Procedure: Diagnostic procedure; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Thickened pyloric wall with maximum thickness measuring 4.2 mm.

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Ultrasound; Procedure: Diagnostic procedure; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Elongated pyloric canal which measures 18.7 mm.

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Ultrasound; Procedure: Diagnostic procedure; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Target sign appearance of pylorus on transverse section (red arrow).

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Ultrasound; Procedure: Diagnostic procedure; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Bulging of pylorus into antrum denoting the cervix sign (red arrow).

  • Figure 2
    Upper gastrointestinal contrast study images

    Plain radiograph AP view in supine position shows marked gaseous distension of stomach.

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Digital radiography; Procedure: Barium meal; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Thin rim of barium noted passing through the hypertrophied pyloric canal - string sign (red arrow). The pyloric entrance appears beak-shaped - beak sign (blue arrow).

    Area of Interest: Abdomen; Imaging Technique: Digital radiography; Procedure: Barium meal; Special Focus: Hyperplasia / Hypertrophy;

    Thickened pyloric muscle bulging into the barium-filled antrum (shoulder sign - green arrow).
